How we capture companies for your thesis

Prepared for the investment committee and operating partners of a buy-and-build PE firm (illustrative desk: Meridian Capital Partners). Companion to service offer S2D-PP-01

29 October 2026

Company capture is part of the managed service. Once a lane is live, we fill it through proprietary outbound against names that already clear your must/kill box. Capture feeds intake; intake feeds QC packs; your IC decides. There is no public marketplace and no spray that burns your brand.

01The job: fill the empty band

Add-on velocity needs a steady flow of thesis-fit, owner-willing companies — the band that does not clear a banker process. Those owners already exist: profitable regional SMEs with thin coverage, succession-ready founders, operators who never hire a sell-side process. The service’s job is to find them, contact them under your brand rules, and convert willingness into desk-ready packs.

Regional profitable SMEs

Why they convert. Cash-generative, rarely shopped

What the service does. Pass-set outbound under brand rules

Succession / continuity corridors

Why they convert. Owner timing is the gating factor

What the service does. Score → sequence → intake → QC pack

Prior “almost” files inside the firm

Why they convert. Timing or thesis may have changed

What the service does. Re-score against the live versioned box

Public / registry signals

Why they convert. Enrichable before first touch

What the service does. Discover → enrich → score before contact

02Capture mode we run

A — Proprietary outbound

What it is. Scored pass-set only; sequences under brand rules

Role in a live lane. Primary and only capture engine

B — Client referrals

What it is. Buckets you designate (below old floor, unstaffed names)

Role in a live lane. Optional; outbound does not depend on it

We do not run: national spray advertising that names you without thesis filtering; scraped lists contacted before must/kill scoring; public “companies for sale” boards as the product; or any path that lets an agent send a pack to your desk without QC.

03Proprietary outbound (how it works)

Every name is scored against the live thesis before contact. Hard rejects never enter a sequence. Owner willingness is confirmed via structured intake (or a documented call) before a pack is treated as desk-ready.

  1. Universe from discover + enrich in the thesis geo × sector.
  2. Score with live version; rank pass set; suppress conflict-list hits.
  3. Sequences drafted under brand rules; human approval on wave copy before scale.
  4. Replies route to intake or call; unwilling or misfit → polite close, logged.
  5. Owner-willing → intake chase → packwright → analyst QC → your desk.

Spanish is the default for ES owner copy unless you specify otherwise. Naming you in the first touch is a brand-rule setting, not a product default.

We measure reply rate, call rate, and conversion to QC pack — not emails sent. Replies with zero thesis-fit owners is a list or thesis problem, not a “send more” problem.

04Capture → intake → pack

  1. Touch logged (outbound sequence id).
  2. Owner willingness recorded.
  3. Intake ref issued; structured fields + document checklist.
  4. Chase playbook for missing items.
  5. Packwright draft with citations when completeness threshold met.
  6. Analyst QC → your desk or return with reasons.

Days-to-pack from first willingness is an operating KPI. Same hard gates every time: owner intent · analyst QC · your IC.

05Brand, naming, consent

  • Partner naming in first touch off unless brand rules say on.
  • No implication that IC has pre-approved any company.
  • No public listing of targets.
  • Owner personal data purpose-limited to evaluating fit for the thesis corridor.
  • Kill switch pauses outbound the same day.

06First ninety days of capture on a new lane

  1. Days 1–14 — Corridor map; conflict list ingested; brand rules; first universe slice.
  2. Days 15–45 — Outbound wave 1 on pass-set; first intake refs; chase cadence.
  3. Days 46–75 — Steady outbound; QC packs; weekly capture readout.
  4. Days 76–90 — Measure path quality; tighten thesis or sequences; decide next geos or sectors.

Pass-set contacted / month

What good looks like. Steady volume against the live thesis — not spray

Owner-willing intakes / month

What good looks like. Steady trickle by mid-quarter, not a single spike

Pre-contact thesis rejects

What good looks like. High — brand is protected

Consent / brand incidents

What good looks like. Zero

07Scaling capture

When pack quality and cycle time clear your bar, capture expands by publishing another thesis corridor or lane — not by opening a public marketplace.
